Make a difference
Every story on this wall is proof that kindness exists. Your donation keeps this space alive — and funds real mental health support for South Africans who need it most.
This site was built because the world can feel overwhelming. The news is heavy, people are struggling, and it's easy to lose sight of the quiet goodness that surrounds us every single day.
Stories of Hope exists to collect that goodness. To remind us that people are still paying for strangers' groceries, still sitting with friends in their darkest hours, still choosing kindness when they didn't have to.
But stories alone are not enough. We wanted this site to do something real. So every donation goes directly to SADAG — the South African Depression and Anxiety Group — who answer the phone when someone has nowhere else to turn. The running costs of this site are covered independently, so that every rand you give goes entirely to the people who need it.
We chose SADAG because their work is the living embodiment of hope — answering calls, running helplines, and reaching communities that have nowhere else to turn.
SADAG · Founded 1994 · Sandton, Johannesburg · NPO 013-085
SADAG is South Africa's largest mental health advocacy organisation, founded in 1994 in Johannesburg. They operate the only 24-hour Suicide Crisis Helpline in the country — and half their lines are completely toll-free, because they know that the people who need help most are often the ones who can least afford a phone call.
They work in urban townships, rural communities, schools, and workplaces — everywhere that people are quietly struggling. Your donation helps keep those lines open.

We are working toward a formal partnership
We are in contact with SADAG to establish a formal relationship. As this community grows, we hope to deepen that partnership and create even more direct impact.
Stories of Hope is an independent community project. We are not a registered NPO. We simply believe in doing something good, doing it honestly, and letting the people who need help receive every rand given.
